Add source control to your Archimate models using coArchi

If you have more than one architect using Archimate, you probably experienced the pains of synchronizing models between different users. What some of you may not know, is that Archi supports git-style source control through a plug-in call coArchi.

Using coArchi and git to keep your models synchronized is as straight-forward as using it for source code repositories.

coArchi is a UI-based plugin that performs all the standard git commands in an integrated fashion – it even supports branching. This means that you don’t need to use the Git CLI, but rather the built-in Collaboration menus provided by Archi.

You would need to go through a couple of steps to set up your modelling tool, and may need to remember a couple things while using it. However, once you’ve spent a couple hours with the plug-in, you would be glad you took the time.

For a configuration walk-through, have a look at the newbie guide I put up on Github.
